Reclaiming the Core Self through Fierce Love

Your clients aren't stuck because they haven't felt enough. They're stuck because the toxic meanings driving their suffering have never been healed. CSRT gives you a step-by-step method to do exactly that.

The Wall Every Trauma Therapist Hits

You’ve done the deep experiential relational work.  You’ve sat with your clients in their pain and suffering, offered attunement, facilitated powerful corrective emotional experiences.  And yet your clients still remain stuck in fundamental ways.

It's not for lack of empathy. It's not that your clients don't feel safe with you, or that the emotional processing hasn't been real.  It’s because the clients deepest intrapsychic wounds  haven’t yet been directly targeted and healed.

CSRT was built to reach what other psychotherapy models don’t: the trauma-induced meanings — i.e. the toxic self-beliefs and survival strategies that result from trauma— that hold suffering in place.

What Makes CSRT Different?

CSRT targets the deepest source of suffering. It directly targets the trauma-induced meanings that drive the pain: the toxic self-beliefs, the self-blame, and the rigid survival rules that were necessary in childhood but now keep clients imprisoned.

The Core Self is not broken --- it is buried. CSRT starts from the premise that every client has an intact Core Self beneath the damage. We are not building something new. We are clearing the debris --- the shame, the self-condemnation, the fear --- that blocks access to who they already are. This reframe alone changes how clients relate to their own suffering.

CSRT gives you a clinical roadmap, not just a theory. The Triangle of Healing shows you where you are in the therapeutic process at any moment, what to target, and what to do next. Nine Corrective Emotional Experiences give you specific interventions for specific clinical situations. A structured Parts Work Process can be reliably learned and implemented. You will always know what to do next.

Defenses are not obstacles --- they are the work. Where other models may wait out resistance or work around it, CSRT treats defenses as Child Parts holding terror and shame, and gives you concrete tools for engaging them directly.

The client becomes their own healer. Rather than creating long-term dependence on the therapist, CSRT empowers the Present-Day Self to become the client's own internal caregiver --- so they leave therapy with the capacity to continue the work on their own.

CSRT integrates what you already know. If you come from AEDP, IFS, Somatic Experiencing, EMDR, or any experiential tradition, you'll recognize the roots. What CSRT adds is a precise system for targeting the meanings that hold suffering in place --- and a relational stance fierce enough to reach them.

The Fierce Love Relational Stance

CSRT is not practiced from a neutral distance. It is driven by the Fierce Love relational stance --- a way of being with the client that is deeply empathic and attuned, yet unapologetically bold and directive on behalf of the Core Self.

We reclaim the word love as a central force in healing. We are born with the birthright of love. Trauma and its consequent suffering are, at their root, a failure of love --- its absence or its distortion. CSRT names this directly and works to restore it.

And we are fierce because our clients need us to be. They come to us in deep intrapsychic pain, imprisoned by shame, self-blame, and survival rules they no longer need. As therapists, we are trained to err on the side of caution --- to remain neutral, to wait, to follow the client's pace. But too often, that caution becomes collusion with the very defenses that keep our clients suffering.

Every day spent living in the Wounded Self is a precious day lost. Our clients need us to be bold on their behalf --- to champion their Core Self even when they cannot, to speak directly to their shame, and to hold the truth of who they are until they can know it for themselves.
